Standard Life appoints Scott to head distribution development

Standard Life has hired David Scott as head of distribution development. Based in Edinburgh and reporting to Stephen Ingledew, distribution strategy director, he will lead the strategic development of a more efficient operating model both internally and externally, including e-commerce solutions with external distributors. Mr Scott joins Standard Life from Bankhall Investment Associates, where he was operations and IT director. Mr Scott said: "The distribution landscape is changing rapidly and my experience working for Bankhall will be invaluable in ensuring our e-commerce proposition is developed with our strategic partners front of mind."

Investment

Deutsche Bank's Private Wealth Management has named Tom Slocock as its managing director and head of PWM UK, effective from 1 March next year. Based in London, Mr Slocock will report to Pierre de Weck, head of PWM globally, and will join the Deutsche Bank PWM global executive committee. Mr Slocock joins Deutsche Bank from Credit Suisse where he was head of international private banking, having previously worked in the private client services business as head of the UK business. Prior to joining Credit Suisse he worked at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. Mr Slocock will replace David Campbell who joined Deutsche Bank with the acquisition of the Tilney Group. Deutsche Bank acquired Tilney Investment Management in 2006 to strengthen its presence in the UK private wealth management market. Mr Campbell will remain in London to focus exclusively on his principal role as head of global investments and services.

Impax Group, the specialist environmental investment company, has appointed Victor Juttmann and Caroline Barraclough as investment manager and marketing manager, respectively. Mr Juttmann joins Impax's private equity team and will be responsible for commercial, legal and tax work related to the growing solar and wind energy portfolio of Impax New Energy Investors. He will focus on executing and structuring new investments and managing the existing portfolio. Mr Juttmann has five years' experience advising on private equity, merger and acquisition and finance deals. Prior to joining Impax he worked as a tax lawyer at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek where he designed and implemented tax efficient investment structures and management incentive schemes for US and European private equity funds. Ms Barraclough will focus on coordinating the marketing strategy for Impax's listed equity funds, including the IFSL Impax Environmental Leaders fund. She has worked in the environmental investment sector since 2005. She was formerly investor communications manager at Carbon International, the environmental communications and fundraising consultancy.

Williams de Broë, the asset manager, has expanded its Edinburgh-based team with the appointment of John Muir, formerly of Skandia and AIG, as sales executive. His role will be to develop relationships between the professional intermediary community in Scotland and Northern Ireland and Williams de Broë's Edinburgh-based investment team.

Arch Financial Products has appointed five new partners as it expands into the Middle East and Asia and continues to grow its product offering. Richard Rhodes, Guy Haward, Gianpaolo Potsis, Alex Hartley and Simon King are the latest additions to the team. Mr Rhodes, partner and chief financial officer of Arch, has joined following a number of years in south-east Asia establishing several sustainable opportunities businesses. Previously of Merrill Lynch, he was the chief financial officer of its international banking division. Previously global head of technology at Merrill Lynch's FX and rates derivatives group, Mr Haward joins Arch as its head of corporate and technology development. Mr Potsios joins Arch as a partner with a remit to develop global placement and syndication capabilities for the group. He was most recently a partner at corporate advisory group Europa Partners working with a range of European financial institutions on corporate finance issues. Mr Hartley, partner and compliance officer, was most recently a partner at ODL Securities Ltd, where he had responsibility for compliance and anti-money laundering and helped grow the firm of 26 to a global business of 220. Mr King, partner and head of real estate, brings more than 19 years international commercial property markets experience to Arch having worked in Australia, Hong Kong and the UK.

Leeds Building Society has appointed Stewart Bannister as marketing communications manager. He previously worked for Leeds Permanent Building Society and the Halifax. In his new role at the society, Mr Bannister will be formulating and driving forward the society's marketing and communication strategies. He said: "I hope to bring new insights to develop and deliver highly competitive mortgage and savings products through our national branch network, our call centre based in Leeds, through the internet and via postal channels."

Technology

Moneyextra.com has appointed Alan Crofts as advertising director. Formerly media manager of competitor website moneysupermarket.com, Mr Crofts has been recruited to spearhead the comparison website's media division and to increase its advertising and sales revenue following a recent change of ownership. Prior to joining Moneyextra.com, Mr Crofts was responsible for establishing and leading the development of all moneysupermarket's online display media, a position he had held since start-up phase.
