Advice firm fails after claim upheld

Cheshire-based advice firm The Chambers Partnership has failed with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

The FSCS said it has received four claims against the firm for various types of financial advice.

A spokesperson at the lifeboat scheme confirmed that one claim has been upheld, allowing the FSCS to declare the firm in default.

Three of the claims were rejected.

The firm was only active until 2016 so there are not any links to British Steel Pension Scheme transfers.

Earlier this week, Worcester-based firm Houghton Edwards failed with six claims, all of which were for investment advice.

Meanwhile, last week, a Gloucestershire-based firm was also declared as failed by the FSCS.

It declared IFS Aegis Limited, formerly Authorised Financial Advisors, in default after the first claim against the firm was upheld.
